RACEWAYS CAR CLASSES NOR-CAL RULES FINANCES POINT STANDINGS USRA MAIN SLICK7 PORTAL

December 2003

Greetings Fans,

FORMULA "S" is COMING!

After reporting major wins in the big leagues of commercial racing, we now shift into a new focus!

Slot car racing interest at the commercial raceways has been shifting slowly from the ultra fast wing cars, to more realistic, and easier to race (although not easier to drive) scale cars.

The racing blood in the established racer pool, has driven the scale cars away from the scale, by using smaller and smaller tires, and by using the lowered, and shortened scale bodies, that are becoming less and less recognizable.

The drive towards more scale keeps coming, as the vintage can-am type cars have been introduced, and TSRF is pushing for real scale looking cars. The public has responded. The only growth in the sport is in this direction, and that drives us to experiment with the new class, we call "Formula S" (for scale not for slick 7).

So! Here is a preview, as these products should be available in December time frame:

The Formula S car shown, has a Tamiya hard body mounted on it, and is powered by a Falcon motor.

Specs:

Wheel base - 4 1/2"

Front Wheels - .950 diameter x .300 wide

Rear Tires - 1.060 diameter x .550 wide

Gear ratio - Using Drag gears - 14-54

OPTIONS

I showed pictures of the Porsche in action, because it looks so cool. The chassis was designed for 4 1/2" NASCAR  and Trucks available at the raceway, and the chassis has also been designed to accept most modern post 1980 Lemans Prototypes hard plastic models, like the Tamiya shown or the Tamtech bodies Tamiya made.

Here are the options:

4 1/2" Nascar with Prototype Chassis:

Hard Body Model or Tamtech Body.

Note the chassis has a body mounting scheme to allow the mounting holes of the Tamtech body to directly mount on the chassis. Or you can drill your own mounting holes on a hard body and make floaters.

Formula "S" cars will be available as a Kit, Assembled Chassis or as a roller with the right wheels mounted, as shown. Production car will have plain wheels, these are SRT Drag wheels supplied by SRT for the Promotional Pictures. You can substitute the SRT Drag tires cut down to 1.060 dia. for better performance than stock tires.

The Formula S chassis was designed to accept a Plafit Cheetah shown or a Falcon motor, The motor tab allows you to screw the motor in to adjust the gear mesh, then solder the can to the tab and the motor brace for permanent installation.

OR:::

The chassis can accept a "C" can for those who want unlimited horsepower, or to run on a King track where you can put the power to the ground! (You have to cut the armature shaft on the endbell side short to clear the tire)

So As you can see this chassis is designed to run with Plafit cars or TSRF cars, or expand the type of racing to more advanced classes, using existing slot car components and the commonly available "C" can motor.

The design is based on our super popular ASP chassis, so this car would make an ideal rental car, since it's indestructible!

Target Prices are:

Chassis Kit: $34.95

Assembled Chassis : $45.00

Roller, without motor or body: $79.95

The pictures are early prototypes, the production car will be nickle plated and shiny clean!

We will be building 8 of these cars, with NASCAR bodies to run as an IROC race in the Dec. 2003 USRA race in Fresno, California. We will report how they go then!.
