C-12

C-12 concourse again is Mike Peakes with  his un-usual paint jobs

The C-12 field, a class which 6 months ago had 2 racers and 4 others with borrowed cars! {We can call this the Al-Chuck class, as he has done the most to promote it by loaning out cars and helping people!-Ed - Rudy}

 OK here it goes! Heat one and Greg Lewis and Rudy Garriga jump out into the lead and are tied with 42 laps each. They are flowed by Mike Peakes, Jim Ward, Jay Davidson, Greg Lozaga, Doug Marchese and Ray Stankewitz.

Heat two and Greg Lewis blazes the track as he turns 50 laps and moves into the lead by eight laps over Rudy then its Mike, Jay, Jim Doug, Floyd Todd and Ray who was in the pits for repairs.

Heat three and Greg goes off to a sit out spot in the lead with a 45.3 lap average. Then it was Rudy in second with a 42 lap average while Mike was third with a 40.3 lap average. But there was lots of racing left and drivers who haven’t even set their cars on the track yet. With Greg Lewis sitting out Rudy is having motor problems (which turns out later to be a bad lead wire) but is tied with Jim Ward for the lead now with Mike third and Jay Davidson fourth. They were followed by Doug Marchese, Floyd Todd, Ray Varville and Bill Lantz.

 It’s heat five now and Rudy changed motors but his problem is still dogging him as Mike now has the lead with Jim Ward second and Rudy now down in third spot.

Heat six and Mike Peakes is running well as he leads Rudy by twenty two laps and they are followed by Doug, Ray, Floyd, Bill Lantz, Downtown Don and Al Chuck. On the average over all for all the racers after six heats, Greg Lewis is averaging 45.3 laps per heat with locals Ray Varville and Bill Lantz tied for second over all with a 41.3 lap average and Mike Peakes fourth with a 40.5 lap average. But we still have seven heats left so the best is yet to come!

It’s heat seven now and Mike Peakes continues to lead with Rudy second and rolling again after many heats of problems until he replaced that bad lead wire. Then they were followed by Ray, Floyd, Bill, Downtown, Al and Greg Lozaga.

 Heat eight and Mike Peakes finishes with 334 laps for a lap average of 41.75 and something for the other racing the shoot for.

 Heat nine and at the of that Ray Varville assumes the lead with Floyd, Bill, Downtown, Greg Lewis, Al, Greg Lozaga and Ray breathing down his neck. So if we look at the lap averages after nine heats, who is the leader? Greg Lewis is averaging 44.5 laps, Al Chuck is averaging 42.2 laps, Mike Peakes is at finished with 41.7 laps and Bill Lantz has a 40.6 lap average. But we’ve got four more heats to go and sit outs that have heats to finishes.

Heat ten and Ray Varville finishes his race with 322 laps for second at the moment with Bill second, Downtown third, Greg Lewis, Al, Jay Davison, Greg Lozaga and Ray.

Heat eleven and Bill Lantz finishes with 320 laps total which is good enough for third place over all right now behind Mike and Ray. He is followed by Downtown, Greg Lewis, Al Chuck, Jim Ward, Jay Davidson, Greg Lozaga and Ray Stankewitz.

 OK! Heat twelve and Downtown finishes with 332 laps just two laps behind the current lead Mike Peaks who has 334 laps in the over all standings. Lets look at the over averages after twelve heat and we see that Greg Lewis leads with a 45 lap average, followed by Al Chuck with a 42.7 lap average, then it’s Mike Peakes with 41.7, Downtown with 41.5, Ray Varville with 40.2 and Bill Lantz with 40.0 lap average.

Last and final heat and there was no dramatic ending like in the Wind Flexi class. Greg Lewis (Pro) cruised to take the win over all with 360 laps with Al Chuck (Pro) second with 344 laps. Mike Peakes (Pro) 334 laps held up for third place while Downtown Don’s 332 was good for fourth place overall (4th Pro). On down the line was Jim Ward (5th Pro), Ray Varville (first place Racer), Bill Lantz (second place Racer), Jay Davidson (Pro), Rudy Garriga (Pro), Greg Lozaga (third place Racer), Doug Marchese (Racer), Floyd Todd (Racer) and Ray Stankewitz (Racer). It was a long round robin but it was a welcome sight to see more traveling racers and local racers trying out Cobalt 12.
