Mike Peaks wins Concourse with his "Death" car!
Here they are! ready for the main event! 2 Pros, and 5 Racers! Floyd's car came in late with an LMP body! (we have fun here in Nor-Cal USRA!) So after the first heat, Jay Davidson and local Jay Matthews were tied with 34 laps a piece with Jim Ward third just two laps behind then came a three way tied for fourth between Doug Marchese, Ray Stankewitz and Greg Lozaga with Floyd Todd seventh. After heat two, Jay D moved ahead of Jay M by two laps with Jim still third and Doug, Greg and Ray still tied for fourth. After heat three, it was Jay D by three laps over Jay M and Jim in third, but now Greg was now fourth followed by Ray, Doug and Floyd. By the halfway mark, Jay D had a six lap lead over Jay M, while Ray moved passed Jim into the third position was Jim was fourth followed by Greg, Doug and Floyd. By the end of heat five, Jay D was eight laps up on Jay M as Jim moved back into third as Ray dropped back to sixth due to problems. By the three quarter mark, Jay D was in control with a ten lap lead over Jay M with Jim still third as Doug was now fourth over Greg and Ray sixth and Floyd in seventh. At the end of the seventh heat, Jay Davison held a twelve lap lead over Jay Matthews with Jim Ward third followed by Greg, Doug, Ray and Floyd. Last heat and they’re off! Jay D is running Ok and then something happens to his car but he get back on quickly and is making laps. Then something happens and the turn marshal says that Jay D has a broken guide.
Jay Davidson is out of the race and can only watch as Jay Matthews is making laps and takes the win. Jay D had enough of a lead to take second place with Jim Ward third over all. They were followed by Greg Lozaga (fourth), Doug Marchese (fifth), Ray Stankewitz (sixth) and Floyd Todd (seventh). A dramatic and heart breaking ending for Jay Davidson, but that racing I guess!
